FARM EQUIPMENT
Offering a professional‑grade alfalfa pellet mill, purpose‑built for processing fibrous forages (alfalfa, straw, hay, corn stalks, etc.) into dense, high‑quality pellets for cattle, sheep, goats, and other ruminants. This machine is part of the CZLH series – the same line used in commercial feedlots and biomass plants – and it excels where standard grain pellet mills fail.
Key Technical Features
Anti‑Bridging Hopper + Force Feeder: Fibrous materials like alfalfa have low bulk density (120–150 kg/m³) and tend to bridge. Our unit comes with a dual‑shaft breaking‑arch mechanism and a horizontal forced‑feeding screw, which actively pushes material into the pelleting chamber. This eliminates downtime caused by clogging and ensures a steady, high‑throughput operation.
Ring Die & Roller Assembly: The ring die is made of alloy steel (42CrMo), specially heat‑treated for abrasion resistance. Unlike stainless steel dies used for grain, this alloy withstands the silica and lignin in forages, extending die life significantly. Rollers feature a coarse‑grooved surface for better grip on fibrous feed.
Compression Ratio Flexibility – For alfalfa/straw pellets, the recommended compression ratio ranges from 1:8 to 1:15 (adjustable via die selection). This allows you to fine‑tune pellet hardness – lower ratios for softer hay pellets, higher for dense, durable cubes that survive rough handling.
Motor & Drive: Equipped with a low‑speed, high‑torque 6‑ or 8‑pole motor (depending on model), which delivers the grunt needed to extrude fibrous material without stalling. This contrasts with high‑speed 4‑pole motors used for grain – our design prioritises torque over RPM, exactly what forage pelleting demands.
Steam Conditioning (Optional): While many forage mills run dry, this unit can be fitted with a single‑ or double‑layer conditioner to inject steam (if you have a boiler). Steaming softens the fibre, boosts output by 20‑30%, and improves pellet durability – ideal if you process high‑lignin straw.
Model Motor Power Output (alfalfa/straw)
CZLH320 22 kW 0.5‑0.6 t/h
CZLH350 37 kW 1.0‑1.2 t/h
CZLH420 90 kW 1.8‑2.0 t/h
CZLH520 132 kW 2.8‑3.0 t/h
CZLH678 200 kW 4‑5 t/h
CZLH768 250 kW 6‑8 t/h
(Model varies with your actual unit – please confirm which one you have.)
All bearings, seals, and the gearbox have been regularly greased (using lithium‑based EP2 grease). The ring die shows minimal wear – I can send close‑ups on request.
Pellet Size & Quality:
Finished pellet diameter is adjustable from 4 mm to 12 mm (die change required). Pellets come out with a smooth surface, low fines, and excellent water stability – crucial for TMR (total mixed ration) or direct feeding. The built‑in cutter assembly lets you control pellet length (typically 1.5‑2× diameter).
Why Choose This Mill
Proven design – based on the same platform used in thousands of commercial installations worldwide.
Low maintenance – all critical wear parts (die, rollers, knives) are easily replaceable.
Versatile – works equally well for alfalfa, straw, grass, and even mixed rations with up to 30‑40% grain.
Energy‑efficient – the torque‑optimised drive reduces electricity cost per ton compared to undersized or improvised equipment.
